Help to Stop Smoking Weed

There are two common misconceptions that make it difficult for people to stop smoking marijuana. The first is that marijuana is not addictive. While it is true that weed does not contain nicotine, there is a reason why some people smoke it every day of their lives. No, it may not be a chemical addiction, but people become addicted to the way marijuana makes them feel, which can be just as powerful.

Another familiar myth is the marijuana is harmless. Well, we hate to burst your bubble, but smoking weed is still smoking. Yes, marijuana cigarettes contain tar and other carcinogens that can and will adversely affect your health if used for extended periods of time. We also know that weed affects short-term memory. So, if you are wondering why your grades are falling, it might just be the joint.

How do you quit? Believe it or not, quitting weed might be harder than saying no to cigarettes. The reason for this is simple: smoking marijuana is a sort of social activity for most folks. This means that people that smoke weed tend to stick together.

Unfortunately, it also means that if you want to quit, you may have to stop hanging out with your friends. After all, peer pressure is a powerful thing and if you continue to associate with people who smoke, sooner or later you will smoke.

That is why you must separate yourself from smokers if you truly want to quit. Of course, that doesn't mean you have to sever all ties. But it is probably best to only go out with them to public places. Hopefully, they will come to understand and accept your decision.

If you experience depression as a result of the separation, it may be a good idea to join a support group for people with addictions or to speak to a certified psychologist.
