Want to give up smoking & need help? Welcome to STUB IT OUT! Stop smoking articles: Keep Yourself Young Looking by Not Smoking!Smoking has a detrimental effect on the way people look, especially when it comes to the skin. Smokers can be identified easily by the wrinkles which appear on the face, particularly around the eyes and mouth – an effect which is hugely ageing. The reason wrinkles appear so markedly in these areas are due to the action of drawing or puffing on cigarettes. Smokers' skin often appears dull and lifeless because less oxygen and nutrients are available. In older smokers arteries may become clogged decreasing the levels of these even further. If you want to keep young looking then it is imperative not to smoke. There are other factors which will help keep the effects of ageing at bay such as avoiding the sun, using high quality skin care and having peels and dermabrasions. But the single least expensive way to keep looking young is to give up smoking. Smoking not only causes people to look older because of the skin – in women who have smoked for a number of years their voices will deepen. In fact it is often quite easy to tell if someone smokes from their voice. Giving up smoking earlier will prevent this from happening. The teeth of a smoker are another giveaway to the fact that they have this habit. Nicotine stains the teeth and increases the incidence of tartar; also gum disease is more likely in smokers with the risk of losing teeth – all of which things are incredibly ageing. By giving up smoking you can also avoid cracked yellowing nails stained from the nicotine in cigarettes, which make hands look far older than they are. The longer you continue to smoke the harder it will be to turn back the clock and keep young looking. Anyone who values their looks and wants to stop themselves from looking prematurely old must quit smoking. |
